Simon O'Neill , EYs managing partner in the Midlands, with the firms new partners

EY has appointed four equity partners and one associate partner in its Midlands practice, bolstering its leadership team as it continues to expand across the region.

The firm employs more than 900 people across the Midlands, based in the firm’s Birmingham office, and has plans to grow the regional team above 1,000 people.

Simon O’Neill, Midlands’ managing partner at EY, said: “These appointments demonstrate EY’s commitment to the Midlands and reflects our strong pipeline of high quality people who will help to grow our business and strengthen our brand in the local market.”

Paul Dennis and Mike Grayton have both been appointed partners in the firm’s Tax practice, based in Birmingham.

Dennis specialises in tax dispute resolution and managing tax risk within businesses, having previously worked for HMRC. Grayton leads EY’s innovation incentives team in the Midlands, helping businesses to access research and development and innovation grants in addition to transforming their tax processes through technology.

Dan Hurd has been appointed Partner in the firm’s transaction advisory services practice and leads EY’s restructuring team in the Midlands. He works with companies and their stakeholders to support them through refinancing, restructuring and insolvency processes.

Piers Clinton-Tarestad and Dee Vaghela have been appointed partner and associate partner respectively, in the firm’s advisory practice in Birmingham.

Clinton-Tarestad leads EY’s Midlands risk team advising clients on how to leverage and respond to emerging technology. Vaghela specialises in advising and providing assurance to clients around their IT infrastructure and security.

Matt Hodgson had previously joined EY from PKF Cooper Parry as an associate partner in the tax team earlier in the year.
