Birmingham airport voted the ‘most family friendly in the UK’

Netflights.com, the travel booking business, polled 2,000 British travellers on their travel habits and their experience of using airports with children, and Birmingham Airport was declared the winner.

Birmingham Airport’s excellent record in on-time flight departures (over 80% on time in June 2018) and a range of other features available to travelling family groups at Birmingham Airport, were the decisive factors in winning such widespread approval.

Stuart Haseley-Neirup, the head of customer experience at Birmingham Airport said:”We are delighted at being names the most family-friendly airport. We put the passenger at the heart of everything we do, meaning we tailor the airport experience to the needs of our 13m passengers that travel through whether they are on business, leisure or as a family.”

As well as a record of timely departures, Birmingham Airport offers its family flyers designated baby changing areas, express security lanes, free water fountains and free WiFi. From 23 July, the airport added to this list of features its new look SkyZone facility, which is easily accessible to families and offers fun and engaging experiences for children before they fly.

Over the busy holiday period, the airport will give each child a Zoom sticker, which is intended to make the experience of passing through security less daunting for each child passenger, and less stressful for their parents or guardians as well.

Birmingham Airport has spent around £14m in recent times on improving passenger facilities, which include a security preparation area with a family friendly channel. In order to maintain this level of passenger experience, the Airport has appointed a Head of Customer Experience to be on site to ensure that the Airport grows and evolves its offer to match fast changing passenger needs.
