Law firm merges in centenary year

Brian Flint (Pearson Rowe), Suzanne Lee (mfg Solicitors), Mike Deeley (Pearson Rowe) and Maynard Burton (mfg Solicitors)

Pearson Rowe, the Birmingham law firm which is marking its 100th anniversary this year, is to become part of mfg Solicitors.

The merger adds a Birmingham office to Kidderminster-based mfg’s network, which also includes Worcester, Bromsgrove, Telford and Ludlow.

Suzanne Lee, partner and managing director of mfg Solicitors, said: “We have continued to grow both organically and commercially over recent years and have been carefully focusing on the best and correct strategic opportunity in Birmingham for some time.”

The deal comes five years after mfg completed two mergers in four months, adding Ludlow firm Phillips & Co then Scotts Holt & Sellars in Bromsgrove.

Pearson Rowe was originally founded on Colmore Row in 1918 by Geoffrey Pearson and is now based in St Paul’s Square in the Jewellery Quarter. Its 13 staff will join mfg’s 151, creating a firm with 37 partners.

Brian Flint, partner at Pearson Rowe, added: “To be part of mfg is a big milestone for us as we mark our 100th year as a firm. More than anything, the merger will see us delivering a far greater breadth of advice for clients in and around Birmingham.”
