Leading chef to open third city restaurant next year

Aktar Islam

Celebrity chef Aktar Islam is to open his third restaurant in Birmingham next year.

Islam opened Opheem in June in Summer Row, Birmingham, alongside Italian restaurant Mi Amore.

He has now revealed he will be opening a third restaurant in Birmingham. While the exact location is being kept under wraps, he is understood to be heading to Edgbaston, close to Simpsons and The Edgbaston.

The chef has been a key figure in Birmingham’s restaurant scene having been chef director at Lasan Group, the restaurant business behind Lasan, Fiesta del Asado, Nosh & Quaff.

Islam has won Gordon Ramsay’s The F Word and BBC’s Great British Menu, and is now a regular on television programmes such as Saturday Kitchen.

TheBusinessDesk.com is holding a summer networking lunch at Aktar Islam’s fantastic restaurant Opheem, this Thursday (August 16). Aktar will join us to discuss what drove him to set up his own restaurants, why he doesn’t believe in food fads, and what the future has in store.
