Environment Agency chooses Aqua for city centre move

Aqua House in Birmingham is now fully occupied after a deal to let 27,000 sq ft to the Environment Agency.

The Environment Agency has relocated to Aqua House from offices in Solihull town centre, with the move driven by the need to be close to the new government hub at Arena Central and the pending conversion of its former office building to a residential scheme. Aqua House recently underwent a major refurbishment across the full 40,000 sq ft, with quoting rents of £16.50 per sq ft.

The letting, which has been secured on a 10 year term, will see the Environment Agency take space across the top three floors of the building, which is situated on Lionel Street in the city centre. The deal was completed by GVA on behalf of the landlord the Canal & River Trust, which is based on the ground floor.

Charles Toogood, GVA, said: “Aqua House provides the perfect space for the Environment Agency, just a stone’s throw from the city’s commercial heartland of Colmore Row.

“The comprehensive refurbishment of the building has been delivered to an exceptional standard and offers genuine Grade A space in a city centre location that also benefits from excellent travel links.

“The Environment Agency proved to be the perfect partner as we looked to let the remaining space at Aqua House. To get one tenant for all three floors was ideal, especially when the occupier presents a secure, low risk tenant for the landlord.”
