Utilities firm launches Staffordshire depot

A multi utility provider has launched a Staffordshire depot to support ambitious Midlands expansion plans.

Bosses at Aptus Utilities say construction clients and housebuilders in the region can benefit from its streamlined one-stop-shop approach to installing gas, water, electric and street lighting.

Signing the lease on the new Midlands hub will strengthen its capacity to support local developers, the company said.

The 8,787sq ft industrial unit at Burntwood Business Park combines warehouse and office facilities.

Aptus Utilities currently employs around 100 staff at its Bolton head office with a further 180 site staff operating on residential, commercial and industrial developments across the North and Midlands.

The company has been working alongside property developers and network operators in the Midlands since early 2017, and is now focused on increasing operations in the region.

Until recently, multi utility teams were deployed to the area from the company’s North West base and managed from Bolton head office.

Aptus Utilities managing director Lisa Kerford said: “In order to facilitate expansion the decision was taken to add a fourth depot to our existing portfolio, which includes depots at Gateshead, Penrith and Leyland. It was felt the location in Staffordshire is well-positioned to deliver our operations across the West Midlands, Wales and Birmingham, whilst creating scope for further growth and enabling us to recruit local skills and talent.

“The Midlands presents new challenges in terms of infrastructure delivery and the different ways of working with local authorities and network operators. But it is also a region where multi utility is in its relative infancy, and we believe we can make a valuable contribution to boosting construction with our highly sought after streamlined solutions.

“The addition of our Midlands depot has significantly enhanced our capability in being able to support local and national builders and we are looking forward to developing new partnerships and opportunities here.”
