Housebuilder to create 100 jobs as development plans get green light

Housebuilder CALA Homes has been granted outline planning permission to deliver more than 240 homes as part of phase two of its Kingsmere Bicester scheme, creating more than 100 jobs.

CALA is set to start construction on the second phase towards the end of the year and, with more than 100 roles available, has launched a recruitment drive appealing for local subcontractors to support on the build of the development.

Among the jobs available are contracts for local bricklayers, joiners, plasterers, plumbers, tilers and labourers.

Michael Moore, commercial director at CALA (Midlands), said: “We are delighted to have received outline planning approval on the second phase of homes at Kingsmere; our first development in Bicester.

“With over 200 homes to build over the coming four years, we’re looking for high-quality, local subcontractors to work in partnership with us.”

The homes at Kingsmere are the first CALA will build in Bicester, and form part of CALA’s longer-term plan to expand into prime areas along the M5 and M40 corridor.

Located on the south-western edge of Bicester, Kingsmere is a residential development being delivered by Countryside Properties.

Construction started on the site off Middleton Stoney Road and Oxford Road in 2010 and, following the first phase of development, is now home to around 800 families.

Once complete, Kingsmere will boast a new secondary school, two primary schools, a village centre with shops, a community and youth centre, a sports village, several parks and green open spaces and a retail park.
