A company specialising in the polishing of metals has secured funding to buy new machinery and create jobs.

Smethwick-based Professional Polishing Services will be using the £240,000 from Barclays to purchase a new bright polishing line which will enable the company to boost capacity by 50%.

The company was established in 1983 by Peter Davies. Today the business is run by managing director, Kirsty Davies-Chinnock and specialises in the polishing of stainless steel, aluminium, brass, copper and bronze to a variety of finishes.

The company employs 22 people but will be looking to recruit an additional five members of staff to support the growing business.

Davies-Chinnock said: “We have always focused on growth through investment in additional lines and this is going to be one of our most ambitious yet. We are hugely excited about the project and although the machines will take a few months to be built, we can’t wait for their arrival in early 2019.

“We are so excited for the opportunities this capital expenditure plan will bring, not only in terms of additional tonnes processed and creating extra jobs, but in how we can expand our customer base.”

Rebekah Taitt, relationship manager at Barclays, said: “Professional Polishing Services Ltd are a long established company who have built a good reputation in this specialist field. This funding has come from Barclays Midlands Growth Fund – a £370m fund which launched earlier this year which is aimed at boosting jobs and economic growth. I am delighted we have been able to support their latest expansion plans and the creation of jobs locally will be well received.”
