People: Law firm recruits head of compliance; M&E consultancy welcomes string of trainees; and more

Midlands law firm Lodders has appointed Paul Harrison to the new role of head of risk and compliance.

Harrison joins from the Birmingham office of national law firm Irwin Mitchell, where he had been conduct and regulatory assistant for over four years.

His experience combines management roles in private practice, with regulatory experience working as both a case worker and technical adviser for the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), and for The Law Society of England & Wales for 12 years.

At Lodders, Harrison will oversee and coordinate accreditation and compliance for the firm’s network of offices in Stratford upon Avon, Birmingham, Cheltenham and Henley in Arden.

He forms part of the firm’s senior management team, alongside its directors of HR, marketing, IT and finance, and works alongside the firm’s partner in charge of compliance, Stephen Brignull.

Twelve trainees have joined Couch Perry Wilkes’(CPW) Solihull office to take the next step in their careers as they begin their professional training at the national mechanical and electrical engineering consultancy.

The trainees will specialise in areas including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, lighting, public health and finance. They will also be provided with the opportunity to complete industry-recognised qualifications as well as receive in-house mentoring from the firm’s experienced team.

CPW has a strong track record in taking on apprentices straight out of school, college or university and across the firm’s nine offices, a total of 19 trainees have recently joined the business.

A Midlands law firm has welcomed a clutch of newly qualified solicitors and trainees to its ranks.

FBC Manby Bowdler has three new solicitors on its team as staff qualified after successfully completing their training contracts and the firm has also recruited two new trainee solicitors.

Joe Martin qualified into the disputed probate team with Jaspreet Kler becoming a solicitor in the corporate department and Ravi Basra graduating from a legal executive to become a solicitor in the commercial property department.

Joining FBC Manby Bowdler on training contracts were Megan Price in the wills, probate and lifetime planning department and Rubel Miah in the commercial property team. All appointments are in the firm’s Wolverhampton office.
