Shropshire marketing firm opens in Belfast

Craig Hodgkiss, Ascendancy Design

When a senior member of the design team at Shropshire based, internet marketing company Ascendancy told colleagues he was moving to Ireland, they decided that he was such a valuable member of the team and did not want to lose him, that they decided the sensible thing to do was to open a new design office in Belfast, and let him run it.

Craig Hodgkiss, the senior designer at Ascendancy told his colleagues that he was moving to Ireland with his wife, who is Irish and had been offered a job there. For Craig this was another significant move in a career that has taken him from Vancouver, where his career began, to London.

Hodgkiss said:”The opportunity came about as I was moving to Ireland with my wife who’d been offered a job and is originally from there.”

“I did not want to leave Ascendancy as I really enjoyed working for them, so I approached the director Helen and we worked out how we could turn this into an opportunity.

Helen Culshaw, the director of Ascendancy added:”When Craig let us know he’d be moving to Belfast we did not want to see him leave the business so we worked together to find a solution.”

The new tram is already hard at work in Belfast building Word Press sites for clients, as well as working with other companies on their branding.

Hodgkiss said:”Everything is done by e-mail and Skype these days anyway so we are able to work seamlessly together from Belfast to Shropshire.”

“Belfast is a very artistic city and there are lots of new businesses coming here who we can offer branding and website support to.”
