Call for nominations to the 2018 Signature Awards

Set against the uncertain economic and political climates, the 2018 Signature Awards are set to be one of the most interesting in the event’s history.

The awards, now in its fifth year, attracts nominees from all over the UK.

Organisers of this year’s event on February 1 said the theme this year will be the continuing uncertainty for 2019 both politically and economically for the Midlands.

While the deadline for the awards is December 2, its founder Ninder Johal, who is past president of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce, current board member of the West Midlands Growth Company and Board member of the Black Country LEP, said he is impressed by the quality of the nominations to date.

Johal said: “Despite the uncertainty in the business community on the future of its relationship with the EU, there is still an element of confidence in the growth projections of the UK economy and it is in this vein that I see a similar pattern in the quality and quantity of the submissions to date. Although there are still some weeks to go, I would urge those who see an exceptional individual or business to put their names forward so that we can collectively celebrate the quality that the UK can rightly boast about.

“It is so important that we recognise both those who create wealth and those who enable the process of wealth creation to occur. The business and professional sector play such an important role in both the domestic and overseas markets.

“The UK brand is especially associated globally with innovation and creativity and for this reason we have included a category for innovation and enterprise and I am looking forward to seeing more applications from entrepreneurs too.”

The Signature Awards will take place at the ICC and has already attracted sponsors including Cobra Beer, East End foods, FBC Manby Bowdler, BSJ Distribution, Oxbridge Home Learning, NFU Mutual, Kuflink , Wolverhampton University, Porsche, Pathway Group, Vision Print, Hollywood Monster and Rational FX.

The categories include Excellence in Finance/Financial Services, Excellence in Law/legal services, Excellence in Real Estate, International/Innovation and Enterprise of the year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Business Person of the year, Promoting Apprenticeships, Small Business of the Year,Excellence in the Professions for Owner Practices, , the Diversity and Inclusion Award and Life time Achievement.

The chosen charity for the evening is Acorns Hospice and the event will be hosted by the former BBC presenter Tommy Sandhu.
