People: Building consultancy promotes; Senior management changes at Wates; and more

Building consultancy Powell Williams has promoted chartered surveyor Jon Carey to the position of associate partner.

Carey, who works in the firm’s Birmingham office, joined in 2015 as a senior surveyor.

His work involved projects for some of the firms’ biggest clients including XPO, Siemens, Aviva and M&M Asset Management.

Michael Jones, senior partner in Birmingham, said: “Jon is an excellent surveyor, with a balanced and commercially aware approach which has helped him to build strong relationships with clients, resulting in significant new business wins.

“He has acquitted himself extremely well over the last three years, building on his areas of expertise within project management and contract administration, to excel in all areas of building surveying.”

Commercial building consultancy firm Malcolm Hollis has promoted William Purvis to senior associate in its Birmingham office.

Purvis earned his bachelors’ degree in building surveying from Birmingham City University. He has more than ten years of experience in the industry, and joined Malcolm Hollis in 2014.

He specialises in technical due diligence.

Wates Construction, part of the Wates Group, has made changes to its senior management team, including the appointment of a regional managing director.

John Carlin is promoted to the role of regional managing director for construction Midlands, from his current position as business unit director.

Wates said the move reflects the growth of the region, with turnover heading towards £160m for 2019, and a number of prestigious projects such as at Birmingham’s The Bank residential development and the £135m Axis Square development in the city centre.
