Multimillion-pound plan to transform historic building into events and conference venue

A £7.5m plan to transform the St Mary’s Guildhall in Coventry into a major events and conference venue is set to be considered today.

Proposals include a new bar and lounge area, a new kitchen and back of house and opening up the Medieval kitchen.

The plans will be considered by the Business, Economy and Enterprise Scrutiny Board.

The plans form part of Coventry City Council’s drive to promote the 700-year-old building ahead of the City of Culture 2021.
