Builders’ merchant relocates HQ as restructuring plan continues

Wolseley UK's headquarters at Warwick Technology Park

Building products distributor Wolseley is relocating its headquarters to Warwick Technology Park, a move which comes just under a year after announcing big cuts as part of a three-year restructuring exercise.

Wolseley, which in December announced 170 jobs losses with the closure of its distribution centre in Leamington and a further 100 redundancies at head office, will move from Leamington Spa to the 32,912 sq ft Two Kingmaker Court after signing for the full building on a ten year term.

The head office will house around 340 staff.

Tim Matthews, property director at Wolseley, said: “Two Kingmaker Court is the perfect space for us to create the next chapter of our business.

“We wanted an office location which would be of high quality, in a prime location and allow us to stay in the region, and this property ticked all of the boxes.

“We’re looking forward to making Two Kingmaker Court the home of our UK head office.”

Last year, the company, which owns the Plumb Center along with other builders’ merchants brands and specialises in plumbing and building materials, announced it had set out a programme of investment in the business to simplify its branch network and logistics facilities to improve customer service and lower costs.

The restructuring proposals included the closure of 80 branches and one distribution centre resulting in 800 redundancies over two to three years across the UK.

GVA acted jointly with Savills on behalf of private investor landlord, with CBRE acting for Wolseley in completion of the deal at Warwick Technology Park.
