The Co-op drives expansion with West Midlands investment

Central England Co-operative has revealed it has invested more than £13.4m and created dozens of jobs during 2018 as part of its store expansion programme, with £1.5m spent in the West Midlands.

Throughout the year the society has opened 10 food stores and six funeral homes as well as relaunching 22 funeral sites and 30 convenience stores.

In the West Midlands,it opened a new store and new funeral home in Kings Norton and revamped four food stores and five funeral homes.

Kings Norton Central England Co-op store manager Rachael Pretty said: “All of us here at Central England Co-operative Food Stores across our trading area are proud to be part of such great communities and are looking forward to welcoming all customers, old and new, to come and enjoy our new and revamped food stores.”

The work throughout the year has been part of an ambitious food store and funeral home development programme, with further investment planned during 2019.
