Scaffolding group reaches higher after sale to American giant

Lyndon Scaffolding has worked on the Runcorn Bridge in Cheshire

£50m-turnover scaffolding group Lyndon Scaffolding has been bought by American giant BrandSafway.

Lyndon is a family-run business set up 50 years ago that has grown to be the UK’s largest scaffolding contractor.

The 600-plus staff at the Birmingham-based business are now part of a 32,000-strong global workforce after the deal completed.

It will be merged with SGB, a UK commercial scaffolding provider, to become Lyndon SGB by BrandSafway.

“This is an exciting combination,” said Dave Witsken, president of Energy and Industrial for BrandSafway.

“By combining the assets, expertise and reputation of Lyndon Scaffolding with SGB, we will be able to expand our service solutions in key major cities in the UK, broaden our overall footprint and accelerate our growth.”

BrandSafway is headquartered in Georgia, USA, and has annual revenues of $5bn (£4bn). The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Lyndon Scaffolding has worked on some of the UK’s major infrastructure projects, including the Severn Bridge and Runcorn Bridge, Tate Britain, the Millennium Stadium, and the Scottish Parliament.

The shareholders of Lyndon Scaffolding were advised by a team from Squire Patton Boggs, led by corporate partner Geoff Perry and assisted by Leyla Parvizi.
