US engineering firm expands again in Birmingham

US-based Jacobs Engineering Group Inc, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, has expanded further at the Colmore Square building in Birmingham city centre after growing its team over the last three years from 150 to more than 500 employees by the end of 2018.

The company, which has its headquarters in Dallas, Texas, occupies 20,000 sq ft on the seventh floor of 2 Colmore Square. It has now expanded into new space on the fourth floor, taking 13,500 sq ft.

The additional capacity accommodates technologists, engineers, programme managers, urban planners, architects, economists and other specialists. Teams are working to help tackle challenges such the need for clean air and water, placemaking, connectivity and security.

“Better infrastructure and connectivity means a competitive city, economic growth and stronger Birmingham business able to compete and rank in the UK and globally,” said Jacobs buildings and infrastructure Europe senior vice president and general manager Donald Morrison.

“The very core of what our teams do is focused on helping the city meet the demands of growth and shape critical infrastructure strategy so that it’s better for people, better for the environment and better for the economy.”

He added: “Being located in the heart of the city enables Jacobs to deliver support adjacent to many of the most significant infrastructure and projects in the West Midlands – including work with Birmingham City Council on its Clean Air Zone, Snow Hill Growth Strategy, Ashted Circus redevelopment and the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games – as well as in rail, highways, aviation, utilities and the built environment.”
