Plans unveiled for 19-storey apartment block on historic city centre site
Plans have been unveiled for a 19-storey apartment block on a vacant site in Birmingham city centre’s historic Gun Quarter.
Birmingham-based developer Taylor Grange Group wants to build nearly 300 apartments in a 19-storey development on the corner of Princip Street and New Town Row.
The 295 apartments would be in two linked blocks of 19 storeys and four -11 storeys with car parking and amenity space.
The scheme, planned for delivery by 2021 and which has a gross development value of £90m, has been designed by Corstorphine & Wright.
Called Lancaster Gate, the development would comprise 134 one-bedroom, 155 two-bedroom and six three-bedroom units and 20 parking spaces.
The site is currently occupied by the police authority and used as a storage depot.
It will be vacated in the summer to allow for the existing buildings to be demolished.
