Recruitment firm outlines growth plans after doubling office space

Gleeson Recruitment has doubled its office space in Birmingham which will accommodate 50 new recruits.

The recruitment consultancy has used a £300,000 refinancing package from NatWest to purchase an additional floor of Edmund House where it has been based for the past three years.

Founded in 2011 by Tony Gleeson, Jason Granger and Jason Blakey, Gleeson Recruitment provides specialist recruitment and executive search services for the accounting and finance, engineering and manufacturing, marketing and digital, human resources, built environment, procurement IT and life science sectors.

The firm employs 78 people across its Birmingham headquarters and office in Reading and has an annual turnover of £12m.

Over the next five years, Gleeson Recruitment hopes to grow the business by 60% taking staff numbers to more than 120, with plans to open further offices across the Midlands region, as well as looking to invest further afield in Manchester or London and setting up an RPO business.

Co-founder Jason Blakey said: “We set up Gleeson Recruitment with the aim of providing stand-out recruitment services, which focused on an understanding of businesses and their unique talent needs. As a recruitment firm, we wanted to practice what we preach and the ethos at the heart of our business is the investment we make in our own staff. It’s important for us to create a working environment which people enjoy being a part of and it’s the strength of our team which has created the success we enjoy today.

“We plan to grow the team to around 120 employees over the next five years and needed the space to do so. The refinancing package from NatWest has enabled us to purchase the additional space above our current office, which will more than accommodate this growth.”

NatWest relationship director, John Ryan, said: “The finance we have provided will enable Gleeson Recruitment to continue providing high quality, customer focused recruitment services. The business is well positioned for growth and this additional space will allow them to recruit more of the world class employees who have been so integral to its success.”
