M6toll launches commuter tag trial

More local commuters and business travellers in the West Midlands will be able to use the M6toll with the introduction of a new Tag trial.

The Hopper£35 Tag offers commuters joining or leaving the motorway at junctions T4, T5 or T6 stress-free journeys for just £35 per week.

Andy Cliffe, chief executive of Midlands Expressway Ltd (MEL), operators of the M6toll, said: “Driving in rush hour can be frustrating, time-consuming and harmful to health – for both employees and businesses.

“For those travelling through the West Midlands, the quickest way to make a difference for the past 15 years has been to use the M6toll, avoiding the congested M6 motorway and other local routes.

“We believe our road represents an easier, stress-free driving experience – and it is important to us that more people are able to enjoy that experience.

“Less congestion makes for a safer drive and more reliable journeys, which is good for the wellbeing of people and businesses in the region.”

A study [https://www.businessinsider.com/long-commutes-have-an-impact-on-health-and-productivity-2017-5?r=US&IR=T] of more than 34,000 workers across all UK industries found those who commuted to work in under half an hour gained an additional seven days’ worth of productive time each year, compared to those with a commute of an hour or more.

The new Hopper£35 Tag is designed to support local businesses and commuters, offering smoother and more predictable travel times, reduced fuel consumption and calmer drivers.

And, as Hopper£35 can be used all week, Tag users will benefit whether they’re using the M6toll for their daily commute to work, visiting friends at the weekend or heading off on a family adventure.
