People: HORIBA MIRA strengthens global commercial team with trio of appointments; Law firm’s trainee makes partner; and more

Three senior appointments have been announced at HORIBA MIRA as the business continues to strengthen its global sales operations.

David Streeter has been appointed to head of global sales, Felicity Palmer now takes on the role of head of global business development and Richard Adams has been appointed to head of international sales.

With more than 80 years combined experience in the automotive industry and over 41 years of experience working at HORIBA MIRA, the team has been assembled to provide dedicated account leadership for HORIBA MIRA’s global customer base, allowing customers to better access the company’s engineering testing and research services.

Miller Crockart, chief commercial officer at HORIBA MIRA, said: “The new structure of the HORIBA MIRA commercial team allows us to scale our business around the world. Not only do we want to enhance the existing relationships we have with our customers, but we’re also excited to work within entirely new technology spaces to develop new mobility solutions.”

A solicitor who joined a Shropshire law firm in 1998 as a trainee and is now recognised as a national expert in her field has just been made a partner.

Debbie Humphries is recommended in the The Legal 500 and is accredited by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers as a senior litigator.

She has now been appointed as a partner of Lanyon Bowdler, the firm she joined just over 20 years ago.

Brian Evans, managing partner at Lanyon Bowdler, said: “Debbie joined us as a trainee in 1998, qualified as a solicitor in March 2000, and has worked in our personal injury department since then.

“She has a great deal of experience in all kinds of accident claims, and as well as dealing with her own caseload of more serious cases, manages the Telford and Hereford personal injury teams.

“We are delighted to announce she is now a partner of the firm.”

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has elected John Hindson as chairman of the CIMA West Midlands Area board.

Hindson will represent and champion the management accounting profession across the West Midlands area, from promoting the future of finance through to helping members and students grow their skills and competencies to stay fit and employable in the digital business world.

Hindson said: “I am delighted to have been elected by my peers as chairman of the West Midlands Board Area. This marks an important milestone for me both at the personal and professional level, especially as we celebrate CIMA’s 100th anniversary this year. With so much happening in the world of business, I look forward to helping our members, students and their organisation adapt to this rapid pace of change and embrace the future of finance.”

Hindson is currently head of finance and deputy CEO at the international development charity Build It International, which creates opportunities for young people and their communities through skills training and community building projects in Zambia.

Hindson previously held a number of senior finance roles in manufacturing and engineering companies across a range of industries for both SMEs and multinational organisations.
