Plant hire firm relocates following acquisition of garden equipment repair business

A Redditch-based plant hire firm has relocated from its home of more than 30 years to accommodate a recently-acquired business.

Dormer Hire Centre has moved from Evesham Road, Headless Cross after buying Premier House in Hewell Road to house its plant and tool hire business, and to accommodate Frank Hedges Ground Care, a Bromsgrove-based garden equipment sales and repair business it has acquired.

Dormer Hire Centre owner Matt Dormer said: “We had been outgrowing our former premises for the past ten years, and with the acquisition of the Bromsgrove garden equipment business, it made even more sense to seek out our own premises where we could consolidate our current growth and cater for further expansion.”

He added that the move was likely to create at least two jobs in the short term, with potentially more to come later this year.

The 15,160 sq ft building has been purchased for £575,000.

Premier House was sold by John Truslove on behalf of Mobility Group, which has relocated to an 80,000 sq ft unit on Padgets Lane in Redditch, in a deal also arranged by John Truslove.

Ben Truslove, a director at John Truslove, said: “It has been a pleasure to help one of the town’s longest established businesses move to cope with expansion, plus tying this in with the biggest letting in North Worcestershire since 2016 is fantastic news for local employment.

“Dormer Hire Centre has been a force in business in Redditch for many years and it is good to see well-known local businesses continuing to thrive and flourish in the face of constant national competition.”
