Birmingham’s Campanile hotel set for refurb

French hotel chain Campanile has announced plans to refurbish its UK estate starting with a £2.5m investment in its Birmingham premises in Aston in the city centre.

The Birmingham hotel will undergo 15 weeks of internal and external renovations to upgrade facilities, including all 111 rooms and the restaurant, bar and reception areas.

Construction work will start at the end of February starting with the third floor of the four-storey property, during which the hotel will remain operational.

The project will see the creation of a new communal area, lounge and bar and spaces for working.

Campanile Birmingham is one of 17 Campanile hotels in the UK and one of 300 worldwide, following the launch of the first hotel in France in 1976.

Hotels in Manchester and Liverpool are being targeted for future renovations following the completion of the work in Birmingham.

Campanile is part of global hospitality company, the Louvre Hotel Group, which boasts a portfolio of 2,650 hotels in 53 countries. These range from one to five star hotels including Golden Tulip, Royal Tulip and Chinese brand Metropolo.

Mark Aldridge, director of operations, Campanile UK, said: “The major renovation of our Birmingham hotel marks the first step towards the transformation of Campanile’s entire UK estate. We’re breathing renewed life into the property both internally and externally, creating more modern and stylish accommodation that is wholly befitting of our customers’ needs and aspirations.

“Birmingham was an ideal location for us to commence the programme of works given the huge amount of development underway in the city and its economic prospects flourishing as a result. We’re very proud to be able to call Birmingham home and be contributing to the vibrancy that can be felt by those living, working or visiting the city. The investment firmly underpins our continued efforts to offer comfort, convenience and conviviality in practical locations at affordable prices.”
