Engineering firm relocates on back of contract wins

New business gained from global automotive companies and a push to diversify into the rail sector has secured a move to larger premises for MarchantCain Group and an expansion of its engineering and commercial teams.

The company has moved to 1 Banner Park, Coventry which has three times the space of its former premises to accommodate additional assembly lines and a larger prototype area as the company gears up to begin production of window regulators and other products for three more automotive companies.

There is also additional office space where both engineering and commercial teams have been able to expand to service a growing customer base in both the automotive niche vehicle sector and, recently, the rail sector.

Recent growth was planned on the expansion of the company’s service offering to include wiper units, numerous active aerodynamic actuation systems and sealing systems together with the expertise the company has in the design and development of window regulators.

The addition to the management team of Jim Griffin, formerly CEO of Autins Group, who has joined MarchantCain as a director, has further strengthened the company’s capabilities in its bid to enter the rail sector with several highly complex engineered products in development, including acoustic barriers.

Pamela Cain, director at MarchantCain, said:“We have had our sights set on bigger premises for three years but the right place to accommodate our growth and our need for a mix of office space and assembly workshops was just not available.

“When we learned last summer that 1 Banner Park would be coming free in a few months we leapt at the chance to secure it.

“This building gives us the ability to continue our growth plans well into the future.”
