Inner-city innovation centre and 42-bed hotel seeks planning permission

An outline planning application is being considered by Birmingham City Council for the development of a new Innovation/creative Hub and 42 Bedroom Hotel in Aston.

The development would see the demolition of an office currently used by Hobday Limited as a storage and distribution complex and will provide a “much-needed boost to the local economy” and is situated two-miles from the city centre.

As part of the new development on 57-59 Aston Brook Street East and land adjacent fronting Aston Road North, 500m2 of new hi-tech space for start-up companies would be built.

This hybrid outline application looks to establish access, scale and part change of use to allow the existing office building fronting Aston Rd North to remain and the demolition of the remaining buildings.

The application seeks permission for the development of a new building on the site for the 42-bed budget hotel with parking with access and scale to be determined and appearance, landscaping and layout reserved for future consideration

All comments must be received by the planning department by 8 July.
