Birmingham restaurant named best in UK by reviewers

Carters of Moseley

Carters of Moseley has been named number one restaurant in the 2019 Top 50 Fit for Foodies restaurants in the UK.

The annual list showcases the top 50 restaurants across the UK in our Fit for Foodies review category, reflected by more than 851,000 reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners.

The restaurant in St Mary’s Row is run by chef Brad Carter and his partner and front of house manager Holly Jackson and has won many accolades in the past few years including a Michelin Star in 2015 – the fifth to be awarded to restaurants in the city.

“The news that Carters of Moseley has topped the list of favourite UK restaurants is a fantastic endorsement for its team and the wider West Midlands’ food scene,” said Nicola Hewitt, Commercial Director of the West Midlands Growth Company

“The region’s culinary offer has become increasingly popular with visitors to the West Midlands. International tourists tell us that sampling the area’s food and drink is among their top five things to do when they visit here.”

Carters is renowned for serving up wild game, foraged herbs, forgotten ingredients and rare-breed animals in a cooking style that looks to change how its customers think about food.

Its signature dishes are Porthilly oysters cooked in beef fat and razor clams with Old Winchester cheese and pepper dulse.
