Traffic alert: Crashes disrupting two major rush-hour routes

Commuters faced delays ahead of rush hour after three-vehicle crashes on two major routes.

There were two lanes closed on the M6 northbound between junctions 13 and 14, near Stafford, which created a six-mile tailback, back to junction 12. Although the lanes have reopened (4.55pm), the disruption was adding around an hour to drivers’ journeys and is expected to take some time to clear.

A separate incident caused the A49 closed in both directions in Shropshire, between Ludlow and Wooferton, with drivers diverted along the A4117 and A456 via Callow Hill. The road has now been reopened (5.20pm).
