Meggitt and Lufthansa join forces to deliver aircraft maintenance contracts in China

Aerospace, energy and defence supplier Meggitt, which is building a £130m factory at Coventry’s Ansty Park, has joined forces with Lufthansa Technik AG to deliver maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services in mainland China.

Meggitt, which specialises in high performance components for the aerospace, defence and selected energy markets, and Lufthansa Technik AG, a world leader in MRO services, have signed an agreement for the provision of comprehensive component MRO services for commercial aircraft in mainland China.

Stewart Watson, president of Meggitt’s services and upport division, said: “This is a long-term partnership for the fastest growing market in the world and combines Meggitt’s OEM know- how with Lufthansa Technik MRO expertise.

“We have invested significantly in all our facilities across Asia as part of our global investment programme. Our ability to offer our Chinese customers an in-country capability will enhance the consistent, world-class levels of support we provide to our customers globally.”

The construction of the 440,000 sq ft building at Ansty Park for Meggitt is underway.

The facility will provide a base for up to 1,000 employees and will serve as the new home for Meggitt’s international headquarters.

The site is due to become operational toward the end of 2019.
