Flooring giant enjoys positive first half

Headlam Group, Europe’s largest distributor of floorcoverings, believes it is well-placed to meet its targets after a successful first half of the year.

Revenues were up 3.3% at the Coleshill-based group, helped by a strong UK performance against a “weaker” first quarter in 2018.

Residential and commercial sectors in both the UK and continental Europe were “all contributing postively” in the six months to June. However the commercial sector continues to drive growth.

It said: “There was a continuing gradual shift in the business mix towards the commercial sector highlighting its overall stronger performance relative to that of the residential sector, with the residential and commercial sectors up 2.0% and 5.7% respectively.”
