Jobs threat as Gala announces casino closure plan

UP to 46 jobs are under threat at the Gala Casino in Wolverhampton after the company announced plans to close it.

The casino, in Whitmore Street, is part of the London-based Gala Coral Group which also runs bookies Coral and Eurobet and Gala Bingo.

A six-week consultation process has been launched among staff with the company seeking to find alternative positions within the company, according to a spokeswoman.

She added that Gala had put forward the closure proposal due to poor trading at the venue, which sits near the main retail hub next to the northern part of the city’s ring road.
