Zaun creates new £5m factory

FENCING company Zaun is expanding its operations with a new £5m factory, which will create new jobs for the region.

The Wolverhampton-based business has now commenced work on a 50,000 sq ft extension, next door to its current premises on Steel Drive.

Work is expected to be completed later this year and the company says that it will create 30 new jobs in the area.

The new facility will also house a new wire mesh machine which will be the largest of its type in the world.

“The extension will increase Zaun’s productivity, boost job opportunities in the area and help retain manufacturing in the UK,” said Alistair Henman, joint managing director of Zaun.

“Part of this current growth stage will also see the installation of a new type of fencing mesh machine, which will be the largest of its type in the world.”

The move has been supported by Advantage West Midlands (AWM) and comes as a result of a big contract win for Zaun as well as good market conditions.

Recently, it won a multi-million pound contract from the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games to create a 10.5 mile security fence around the Olympic Park in East London.

The company also says the growing needs of the high security market means that there is growing demand for its products and services.

Attending the commencement of works was local Ken Purchase MP, Labour parliamentary candidate for Wolverhampton North East Emma Reynolds and Jim Johnston of AWM.
