Mazars jumps the ‘concrete collar’

INTERNATIONAL accountancy practice Mazars is is to move its Birmingham staff into the rebuilt 45 Church Street office development.

In what is thought to be one of the biggest property deals of the year, Mazars will move from its current offices on the corner of Newhall Street and Great Charles Street across the “concrete collar” into the heartland of City firms in Birmingham’s prime business quarter.

Currently ranked as ninth largest UK accountancy firm by audit fee income, in February 2010, the firm was placed first in the inaugural Accountancy Age/Financial Director audit services satisfaction survey.

In the Midlands, Mazars advises a growing number of listed companies including recent wins Alstom UK, Manganese Bronze Holdings and Portmeirion Group PLC now added to a list which includes Schneider Electric, GeoPost and Arval from its offices in Birmingham, the Black Country and Nottingham.

David Chapman, managing partner for the Midlands, said: “This is a major statement by Mazars in the Midlands. The decision to make our Midlands headquarters in the stunning revitalised new office building at 45 Church Street is a signal to the market that Mazars is on the move, both geographically and business-wise.

“We have experienced dramatic expansion over the past 24 months not only as a result of us winning some exciting new audit clients but also an increase in work in some of our specialist areas such as forensic, corporate finance and governance and internal risk control.”

In the Midlands, Mazars has 13 partners and a total of 130 staff.
In the Black Country, Mazars is in the process of relocating from Dudley to Wolverhampton with the move expected to take place in the autumn.
