Trip to Drayton Manor for family business group

THE International Centre for Families in Business (ICFIB)s is moving its headquarters from the West Country to Drayton Manor Theme Park.

The IFCIB, which is now headed up by well-known Birmingham businesswoman Dani Saveker, is to move into office space at the theme park near Tamworth.

Saveker said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be moving to the Midlands and even more so that we are basing our head office at the fabulous Drayton Manor Theme Park. Drayton Manor represents so much of what ICFIB stands for.

“To start with, Drayton Manor continues to be a privately owned family-run business with second and third generations actively managing and running the park.

“We also believe that its focus as a family based tourist attraction and being about having a great time will be a nice reminder to our families in business to inject fun into their business strategy. Many family businesses can struggle with this and need to be reminded of its importance from time to time. Taking time out can be challenging.”

The IFCIB has a number of offers including specialised consultancy, which can range from working with families on their succession planning, to overcoming relationship difficulties. It also offers esearch and education, mentoring and peer group workshops for family business members.

Family businesses form around 75% of all private UK businesses but only only 30% make it to the second generation.

Saveker knows all about family businesses. She is the former CEO of her family’s 106 year old manufacturing business based in Perry Barr, Birmingham. Savekers – which made architectural metalwork and shop fittings – went into administration in March 2009.
