Wright Hassall appoints four new partners

WRIGHT HASSALL has appointed four new partners internally as reward for their part in the firm’s continued success.

The Leamington-based firm has promoted Christine Jackson, Gemma Carson, Claire Waring and Matt Cleverdon to partnership taking its total number of partners to 36.

The quartet was singled out for special recognition for their ‘significant contribution’ to the firm’s growth in recent years.

Ms Waring heads the residential development department, Ms Jackson is part of the commercial team – advising on commercial contracts for businesses in the technology, retail, food and transport sectors. Ms Carson is a litigation specialist and Mr Cleverdon is IT director.

Nick Abell, senior partner at Wright Hassall, said: “They have each made a significant contribution to the success of the firm over the last two or three years and their promotion reflects not only their commitment and loyalty but also their excellent legal, or in Matt’s case IT, and client relationship skills.”

Jobson James makes key appointment for Legal Indemnities practice

Bisma Mahmood, head of Legal Indemnities, JObson JamesJOBSON JAMES in Birmingham has hired Bisma Mahmood, left, to head up a new Legal Indemnities practice.   

She will provide specialist help for real estate lawyers and teams within law firms across the whole of the UK.  Her appointment to work alongside the existing Real Estate team offers Jobson James a unique selling point outside of London.  

The new service will provide lawyers with specialist insurance expertise and access to the whole market.  

A law graduate, Bisma Mahmood has a legal background and cut her teeth at Shoosmiths before moving to the commercial property team at Wragge & Co in Birmingham and latterly working at brokers Towergate.  

She said: “This is a really exciting move for me. Jobson James is now one of a handful of Chartered Insurance Brokers outside of London to offer this niche area of expertise and it illustrates their ambition to grow the business.”

Warwickshire Law Society appoints new president

THE new head of the Warwickshire Law Society is Dawn Mobbs, of Coventry-based law firm Band Hatton, who succeeds Nick Button, of Button Legal.

Mr Button, left, said: “It was an honour and a privilege to serve as president, there was also a lot of responsibility, but overall it was an extremely enjoyable experience.”
