Halfords profits slump 26% as economy and mild weather hit sales

A COMBINATION of depressed market conditions and a mild winter have resulted in reduced full year revenue and profits for Midlands-based retailer Halfords.The automotive and leisure retailer has reported a 2.3% fall in full year revenue to £752.3m (2011: £769.7m) and a 26.6% drop in pre-tax profit to £92.2m (2011: £125.6m).The Redditch-based group said the current year had also begun poorly with demand well down on where it should be.“Retail sales in FY13 have been very disappointing so far.
