National Express strengthens senior management team

TRANSPORT operator National Express has beefed up its management team with the arrival of a new chief operating officer and a new HR director for its coach business.

The Birmingham-based plc has brought in Matthew Beeton as COO. He was previously at Serco where he was managing director of the company’s transportation systems division.

He brings a breadth of experience in the transport industry with a career spanning nearly two decades. He has previously worked in the road, rail and aerospace industries and held director positions at Rolls Royce, Bombardier and Northern Rail.

He said: “The technological advances being made in coach travel are an exciting development and I look forward to us providing real time travel information across Britain to our customers.”

Meanwhile, Jenifer Richmond has joined the firm as HR director for its coach business.

She joins from public services provider Amey where she has held two divisional HR roles over the past four years.

She said: “My role offers a real opportunity to shape National Express’ people strategy, build on the organisation’s already excellent reputation as an employer and support staff to deliver the first-rate services our customers expect and deserve.”
