A CONTROVERSIAL plan to build a Sainsbury’s supermarket and business park on a greenfield site in Newport, Shropshire, has been called in by secretary of state for communities and local government Eric Pickles.

Birmingham developer St Modwen now faces a public inquiry to find out whether the scheme can go ahead.
