House prices outstrip salary levels by three times

THE cost of buying a house in the West Midlands increased by more than three times the rate of an average salary over the past ten years, new research has concluded.The National Housing Federation said the situation had left thousands of people with little hope of ever getting on the housing ladder.The NHF research found that in 2001 the average price of a home in the West Midlands was £95,015, and the average salary was £15,636.
