Car production rises 22% to cheer manufacturing woes

CAR production in the UK rose more than 22% in July – the 13th consecutive month that output has risen, latest figures show.The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders said production was up 15% year-on-year – an encouraging sign for the vital automotive supply chain and the thousands of jobs it supports.Figures produced by the SMMT show 119,882 cars were produced last month, an increase of 22.2% on the same month last year.
