Freeth Cartwright makes merger move in Oxford

LAW firm Freeth Cartwright – which has an office in Birmingham – has merged with Oxford-based Henmans in a move that will increase its network to ten offices nationally with a total revenue of approximately £50m.

The Henmans business, which will be remain a separate entity and will be renamed Henmans Freeth once the merger has completed, is known for its work in the charity, private client, agricultural services and insurance sectors.

Freeth Cartwright chief executive Peter Smith said: “This merger is a major step forward for both firms in achieving our long-term strategic objectives, and strengthens the services we are able to offer our clients.

“We very much look forward to working together in our project to become a leading national firm whilst maintaining our commitment to the local market in each of our offices.”

Malcolm Sadler, senior partner at Henmans said:  “This merger presents us with an opportunity to expand our client base across the country.”

It has been a busy year for Freeth Cartwright which opened a new office in Sheffield shortly after announcing its merger with seven-partner Milton Keynes firm Kimbells late last year.

Since then it has also completed the integration of Stoke-based legal firm KJD Freeth.
