HS2-affected residents will get ‘comprehensive’ compensation package

RESIDENTS who are adversely affected by the development of the HS” high-speed rail link between Birmingham and London will be comprehensively compensated, the Government has said.
The first phase of the £33bn HS2 rail line will require 338 homes to be demolished to allow for construction work.
Work is due to start on the line in four years’ time and to be completed in 2026.
The Department for Transport says the compensation would be "significantly beyond statutory requirements".
