Events lined up as Anglo-Sino trading body launched

THE Birmingham launch of the new England China Business Forum has been declared a success.

More than 100 guests heard messages of support for the new business and cultural alliance in the city’s Southside district – home to Birmingham’s Chinatown.

The England China Business Forum is a private sector initiative for companies interested in working, sharing and collaborating with others on business activities between China and the UK. Early events include participation in the China-Europe 2020: Climate Change Challenge Conference during the Sustainability Live Exhibition at the NEC in April.

Keynote speakers Gisela Stuart MP, Adrian Shooter of the CBI and John Rider of the Institute of Directors welcomed the Forum as a vital recognition of the way in which the economic, commercial and political geography of the world had changed in the last 20 years.

Dr Yeow Poon, chairman of the Forum stressed the Forum’s commitment to providing practical support for small companies building business relationships on China and also to creating lasting links between Chinese students in the area and the wider business and cultural community.

The launch event at Birmingham Hippodrome was sponsored by Bournville College, DWF, People and Organisations, Yuan and News from the Future and co-organised with the European Enterprise Network.
