Drive-through dry cleaners cleans up

THE UK’s only drive-through dry cleaners, Burton-upon-Trent-based Johnson Cleaners, has seen the concept grow in popularity during its first full year of trading.

The outlet has reported an 8.5% year-on-year sales increase and is now charting further growth.

Established in October 2011, the outlet received a £130,000 investment to upgrade the original site in Lichfield Street, adding extra services including shoe repairs, clothing alterations and repairs and key cutting.

The store has recorded a 75% growth in its laundry service over the past year and the growth has been attributed to the added convenience.

Shelly Banks, store manager, said: “Since changing over to the drive-thru format we have seen a real uplift in footfall and the amount of new and existing customers are using our facilities.

“Now our customers don’t have to leave their car to take advantage of our full range of services. From the 24-hour drop box facility to a seamstress in store six days a week, we are going that extra mile to ensure our customers get the best possible service from Johnson Cleaners and in turn make their lives easier.”
