Two Midland companies on the case for IT sales

TWO Midland companies are hoping to cash in on new international orders after collaborating on a new product aimed at telecoms engineers.

Smethwick-based case and enclosure manufacturer Zero Cases UK and Stratford engineering company Assembled Electronics Solutions have produced an ‘all-in-one’ work stations for engineers working in the field.

Zero Cases UK initially won the contract to create bespoke ITT cases for a leading telecommunications firm. These incorporated fitted-in and ready-to-use diagnostics computer systems which eliminated the need for individual, complex kit boxes.

Assembled Electronics Solutions supplied the electronic components necessary for the completed product.

Broadband technicians normally have to carry and connect three separate pieces of kit, alongside numerous cables and wires, for installation or diagnostic tasks at a customer’s residence. The new cases allow technicians to carry and use all of their equipment from one case, saving around 20 minutes in the installation process.

Mike Dimmack, Plant Manager of Zero Cases, said: “This is an example of a bespoke solution which demonstrates our continued penetration into Europe and in particular, market sectors that are more technically advanced, requiring a solution to a problem rather than simply component parts.”

Nigel Maris, managing director of AES, said the two firms had been looking to collaborate because of the synergies involved.

The innovative new product is believed to have no current competitor and the two firms are hoping for strong sales as a result.

Zero Cases UK is a specialist manufacturer of deep-drawn and fabricated aluminium and moulded plastic cases, enclosures and assemblies for the defence, aerospace, petrochemical, industrial, medical and telecommunications markets.
