Bank support helps jewellers open new Rolex showroom

BANKERS in Staffordshire have agreed a six-figure funding deal to enable a family-owned jeweller in Cheshire to open a new Rolex showroom.

The facility has seen CH Moody & Son, which is based in Nantwich, become one of only three Rolex retailers within a 50-mile radius.

CH Moody & Son, established in 1883, sells luxury jewellery and watches from brands such as Bremont and Mont Blanc. The business also has its own ‘Moody’s 1883’ collection which offers customers hand chosen diamonds and gemstones.

Now run by the fourth generation of the family, owner Carl Moody decided to expand the range of Rolex watches available at the jewellers and open a dedicated boutique within the shop, with a consultancy area and glass cabinet displays.

The business approached Lloyds TSB Commercial Banking in Staffordshire for the funding support to completely refit a section of the shop to house the boutique. The business, which employs five members of staff, now stocks over a hundred watches by the Swiss watchmakers, and attracts customers from Cheshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire and Wales.

Carl Moody said: “We only stock the finest hand-picked jewellery and watches, and this is why we have built up such a strong customer base.

“Since moving the business to Nantwich in 1999, we have worked hard to establish a space which is welcoming, perfectly complementing our wide range of quality goods. The Rolex boutique is a dedicated showroom where we can provide a one-to-one service, ensuring customers can make an informed purchase from the wide selection of watches we now sell.”

Peter Smith, relationship manager at Lloyds TSB Commercial Banking, said: “CH Moody & Son is a strong family business which is well-established in the jewellery sector and recognised across the region for its quality service and products.

“The fact the business is still trading successfully is testament to the knowledge and expertise that have been passed down through the generations of the family.”
