Corporate team boosted at Shoosmiths

SHOOSMITHS’ has strengthened its corporate team with the recruitment of a new partner. Corporate finance lawyer Ben Turner has joined the firm from Hill Hofstetter, formerly part of Reed Smith.

Turner advises corporates, entrepreneurs and management teams on a range of domestic and cross-border transactional work, including mergers and acquisitions, divestments, restructurings, joint venture arrangements and general corporate matters.  

He joins Shoosmiths’ corporate team after a strong run of deals success, which has seen it appear in the top three of the UK Experian Corpfin Advisor League Tables for number of deals done.

Based in Birmingham, Turner has sector expertise in financial services, technology, digital media, manufacturing and engineering.

Thomas Horton boosts Commercial and Family divisions

Lisa Johnson, left,who will provide the firm’s corporate clients with advice on matters from start-ups to acquisitions and disposals, joins the practice as Director of Commercial Property.

Joining the Family team is solicitor, Anila Naeem, right, who has over seven years’ experience in the resolution of complex financial disputes, including those involving pension and business assets.

She has particular knowledge of public sector pension schemes including those of the military, police and NHS.

Retirement prompts Stourport reorganisation for Thursfields

The team at the Stourport office of Thursfields WORCESTERSHIRE-based Thursfields Solicitors has reorganised its Stourport office following the retirement of the firm’s longest serving employee, Anita Underwood.

The latest developments have seen the move of Head of Residential Property, Julie Goodman to Stourport to replace Ms Underwood, while Family Solicitor Ian Yates is also committing his resources and expertise to the office.

Charlotte Kelly, Private Client Solicitor specialising in Wills and Probate work who is already based in Stourport, will be helping the new pairing.
