New head of banking for Pinsent Masons

PINSENT Masons has strengthened its financial services team with the appointment of banking and restructuring specialist David Doogan.
 
Doogan, who will lead the Banking team in Birmingham, has a wealth of experience in property, acquisition and leveraged finance as well as corporate lending and restructuring work. Doogan is ranked in Tier 1 by leading independent legal directory Chambers and Partners and his appointment will help improve Pinsent Masons’ offering in the Banking and Restructuring sector.

Doogan’s appointment follows the hire of banking and restructuring specialist Claire Massie in Scotland, restructuring and insolvency expert Richard Tripp in Leeds and banking litigation specialist Michael Isaacs to the firm’s London headquarters.
 

Shoosmiths raids Wragges for housing specialist

Bukola Aremu with national property litigation head Nick ShepherdSHOOSMITHS has appointed a new associate to head up its housing management litigation team, which advises social landlords and local authorities.

Bukola Aremu, left, who has more than 10 years’ housing management litigation experience, will provide legal advice to registered provider (RP) clients on a wide range of matters, including anti-social behaviour, possession claims, and service charge disputes.

Joining from Wragge & Co, she will also advise on non-contentious housing management issues, and has experience defending claims bought by tenants under Human Rights Act 1988 public law defences.

Shoosmiths’ housing management litigation team is part of the firm’s national property litigation practice headed by partner Nick Shepherd, right.

He said: “This is a significant appointment for us. Bukola joins having been at firms with strong reputations for social housing work, and brings with her a breadth of knowledge gained from her time both at those firms and in the public sector.

“It means she’ll immediately be in a position to give authoritative advice to our key social housing clients, such as Accord Group; Derwent Living; and WM Housing Group, which includes Optima Community Association and Whitefriars Housing.”

Aremu has worked in-house for local authorities and, whilst in private practice, for more than 100 housing associations.

Harrison Clark Rickerbys strengthens equine team with leading horsewoman

Lottie Goldstone at Burghley dressage on Father JerryHARRISON Clark Rickerbys has strengthened its specialist equine team with the appointment of keen horsewoman, Lottie Goldstone.

Ms Goldstone, left, has previously competed at top level on horses that she trained herself.  She has been a member of the British equestrian team competing all over Europe and participated at the Burghley horse trials on several occasions.  

The firm was keen on her appointment as she also has first-hand experience of the issues facing the Equine and Agricultural communities.
 
She has embarked on a new career as a Trainee Solicitor with the firm having retrained at the Bristol Institute of Legal Practice. In her new post she will be responsible to Alison Goodwin, head of the equine team.

Equine legal services can include loan agreements, disputes relating to horses and disputes relating to the sale and purchase of a horse or pony, preparation of livery agreements and disputes, negligence claims against veterinary professionals Public Liability and Animals Act 1971 cases, and advice relating to divorce and relationship breakdown where horse ownership is involved.
