William Davis completes on £1.5m Coventry resi scheme

DISUSED wasteland next to the Coventry Canal has been transformed into a £1.5m scheme of family homes, giving the area known as Lady Lane a new lease of life.

The development consists of 12 bungalows and four houses and has been built by developer and contractor William Davis Ltd on behalf of housing and care organisation, Midland Heart in conjunction with Coventry City Council.

A number of families have now moved into the properties, which are a mix of quality built houses and bungalows.

Located in the city’s Longford Ward, the development is traditionally designed to reflect the area’s existing architecture and the homes have been constructed to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3, ensuring they are energy efficient and cost effective to maintain.

Richard Cornes, partnerships director, William Davis, said: “This is a fine example of the revitalisation of an inner city derelict site. Waterside schemes can be tricky from a construction point of view, and this scheme also involved the protection of a number of mature trees, resulting in a quality sustainable development in a now very pleasant location.”
