Dealmaker Cook given managing partner role at DLA Piper

DLA Piper has appointed corporate finance specialist Charles Cook as managing partner in its Birmingham office.

He replaces outgoing managing partner Mark Beardmore who is leaving the law firm to join city rivals Eversheds as a partner in its Birmingham office.

Cook, who is already based in DLA Piper’s Birmingham office, specialises in corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions (M&A).

He has acted for a number of companies in respect of their stock market listings and on subsequent fundraisings and compliance obligations.

In the M&A field, he has extensive experience acting for both private and public companies with a particular focus on cross-border transactions and public company takeovers.

His dealmaking activities include advising Intelek on the recommended offer by Teledyne Technologies and advising the shareholders of the Europackaging Group on the disposal to MidOcean Partners.

He also advised Accident Exchange Group on its initial admission to AIM and subsequent move to the official list and advised Dechra Pharmaceuticals on its acquisition of Vetxx.

He takes over as managing partner with immediate effect.
