Work starts on manufacturer AI’s 65,000 sq ft Rugby HQ

CONSTRUCTION work has started at manufacturer Automotive Insulations (AI)’s new UK headquarters.

The firm is currently based at the Somers Road industrial estate in Rugb, but isexpanding to the new site at Coton Park on the outskirts of town to accommodate additional staff and equipment. 

The 65,000 sq ft site will almost triple the space that the company currently occupies. 

The move comes as Automotive Insulations celebrate the most successful year in tits 47 year history. The company has opened two overseas sites over the past year and has also moved to 24 hour working for the first time to meet increased demand from the automotive industry.

The company anticipates employing around 200 people at the new site when it opens.

MP Mark Pawsey, who was at the groundbreaking ceremony, said: “It’s great to see a local company expanding and taking this bold initiative which is set to create jobs in the area

“AI is competing on a national and global basis and I am delighted that by responding to their need to grow, the company and the employment it provides has been retained here in Rugby.“

AI managing director Jim Griffin said: “This is a major step forward for all of us at AI. It is a very proud moment in the history of the company.”

AI develops and manufactures products to manage sound and temperature across the automotive, marine and industrial sectors. Its clients include several international car manufacturers.
